Coventry City manager Mark Robins has confirmed they have rejected offers for Leeds United target Gustavo Hamer this summer.
Robins provided the update after the pre-season win at Exeter City on Saturday, hinting to the Coventry Telegraph that Hamer has had his head turned by the speculation.
As per Phil Hay, Hamer is among a list of players Leeds are looking to target before the end of the window with midfield an area that is in need of strengthening.
Leeds‘ interest does not appear to have moved forward since that stage, though this latest update from Robins could be a suggestion they have been working behind-the-scenes on a deal.
That said, Leeds are set to face Premier League competition in the race for Hamer, with Burnley having reportedly seen a cash + player offer rejected in July.

Hamer has just 12 months left to run on his deal at Coventry and is yet to give any indication he will sign a new one, with Robins suggesting his head has been turned by the interest this summer.
He said: “The honest answer is yes, we have had offers but they haven’t been acceptable. That could change, who knows. He’s a top player, there’s no doubt about it, and other clubs covet them and put things in his head and that’s something that you can’t remove from his head.
“I think really what I would like to see is us finish our recruitment and then see what’s what, but ultimately it’s his decision.”
Amid this latest update, it would seem likely that Hamer will not sign a new deal and so this summer represents their last chance to receive a fee somewhere close to what he is worth.
As such, Leeds should do all they can to bring him in, as he could be the creative force – whether from number eight or 10 – the Whites have desperately lacked for some time.
Hamer scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in the Championship last season, and those sort of numbers would be a huge addition to Daniel Farke’s side.
