Leeds Live claim Max Wober has left his teammates and colleagues at Elland Road “hurt” after jumping at the first opportunity to leave the club and join Borussia Monchengladbach on a loan deal until the end of the 23-24 season.
Wober, 25, was expected to remain at Elland Road this summer. But, in the blink of an eye ahead of the clash with Monaco in York, Wober was absent. Daniel Farke then confirmed he was to leave and join German side Gladbach.
Florian Plettenberg reported last week that a loan deal had been agreed, and a permanent option was unlikely to be included. A loan fee of £430,000, with confirmation expected today [Monday]. But it has left a lasting impression.
Leeds Live say that teammates and colleagues were left hurt given Wober’s intention to remain at Elland Road and then, at the drop of a hat, his decision to go – at the first sight of interest. A certain lack of loyalty has upset players.

It did come out of the blue. Especially as reports had previously suggested that the Austrian would be staying put at Elland Road. The likes of Marc Roca, Diego Llorente, Brenden Aaronson, even Rasmus Kristensen were likely to go.
Their exits will not have hurt as half as much as Wober, who was clearly a well-liked member of the group and had made it clear to the players he would stay put. Little the Leeds players can do now, but Wober’s exit will have stung.
Maybe not so much for Liam Cooper and Pascal Struijk however, who will see their game time increase. Certainly captain Cooper, who is now first choice on the left. Struijk could be used on the right side in the middle of defence.
